Podcasting? Help!

What is a podcast?
Podcasting allows you to automatically download audio files to your MP3 player through your computer. You can listen to conference presentations on the airplane, bus or subway.

You only need a PC or Mac, an internet connection, and the podcasting software that is available for free.

  • Get the free ipodder software
  • Install it on your computer
  • Follow the directions to choose podcasts.
  • The software should transfer the downloaded podcasts to an audio player on your computer after you subscribed to a particular rss feed (available at http://podcast.newmediaeducation.org).

You can listen to your latest download on your computer - or when you synch your MP3 player the latest podcasts will be transferred and you can take the presentations everywhere you go!

What is an RSS feed?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and it feeds content from all over the WWW into your computer. Instead of browsing through  websites online, you save the feeds from the sites you like with an "RSS Reader" or "RSS Aggregator." Now you can view updates from all the feeds.
