About:
Martin Lucas is an actively engaged artist
with a critical perspective and a documentary bent who works in an art
world context as well as in alternative and broadcast media. Projects
include Subway Outside, an free-ranging look at how New Yorkers find
culture made in collaboration with Dutch conceptual artist Jeanne van
Heeswijk and involving installation, broadcast, periodical publications
and a series of discussions around art and public culture.
Martin has taught film and video production as well as new media at Fordham University, Brooklyn College, CUNY and The Educational Video Center. He currently teaches in the Film and Media Studies Department at Hunter College, City University of New York, courses include collective documentary production and electronic news gathering. Martin is the Director of Technology at Manhattan Neighborhood Network, the borough public access network.
