SubmaP is a collaborative project that aims to map Sao Paulo using a cartography that puts class, gender on the map. It's not just a map to get you from A to B-- it's a map that can be reconfigured by its users. We draw different lines, a subjective map of this metropolis: a map of unheard histories, of unknown places, a map of our own, your grandmother´s map, the worker´s map, a people´s map. Another cartography, a different history, a map that is shaped by its users.

RICARDO:

Submap is a project of a different mapping of Sao Paulo.
Another map, a subjective map of this big city: a map of
unknown histories, of unknown places, a map of your won, your
grandmother´s map, the worker´s map, a common people´s map, a
commom peole´s history map. Another geography, another
history.

Proposal

This project can accommodate many different ideas and usages.

Here is my suggestion for a plan:

1) Project goals   

A) Review the interface design and interaction design of "Twenty Four DollarIsland" as it is. http://24dollarisland.netThis is the project programming backend-- we would use a similar one for SaoPaulo. It is important to identify what works and what does not. Please havea look and send feedback. Which features would you like to add and why?

B) How would you use the map that you create? Remember, there can be as manymaps as we like of each of the sections of Sao Paulo. You can have your ownmap. What would you do with it? What are your desires and needs?

C) Which communities should be involved in the development?

2) Project Scope   

A) Review the current state of the Twenty Four Dollar Island project.

B) Identify the work to be done on the project

What parts of the project should be started first?

3) Personnel Resources

A) Identifying who will do what work

4) Setting Milestones

A) Schedule timelines for work to be done

B) Schedule regular planning and review meetings

C) Schedule future workshops introducing the mapping project
